Ruby
Breed: American Staffy
Barking from: Melbourne Victoria
Job title: Cardiac Alert Service Dog
What's up dog?
Ruby alerts to oncoming cardiac episodes. Including alerting to spikes in tachycardia and drops in blood pressure. She gives me 5 minutes notice before an episode starts. One day she was acting odd around me so I decided to call the paramedics. When they arrived I had gone into atrial fibulation and was extremely unwell. She saved my life that day. She is a great advocate for bully breed dogs showing that they aren't the big angry dogs people think they are. Everyone who meets her instantly falls in love, whether they like dogs or not. I recently had a baby and Ruby attended the birth with me, which was an emergency C section and accompanied me during my stay on the birth suite.
