Onyx

Top Dog with a Job Finalist

Onyx

Breed: Kelpie x Border Collie

Barking from: Perth, Western Australia

Job title: Shelter Dog Photographer Assistant and Therapy Dog

What's up dog?

Onyx has started working alongside me as my photography assistant, keeping my dog clients happy and teaching them the camera is okay! We started going out to A1 Wheatbelt Dog Rescue in Northam to photograph the shelter dogs in hopes of finding them homes faster. Onyx sits with the scared puppies and makes them feel safe and comfortable. He has helped a beautiful young dog that was attacked by another dog, regain faith in dog kind after coaxing him out of his shell to play and sitting beside him when he was unsure. He has helped first hand in the adoption of a dog by playing with her, showing her new pawrents just how kind and gentle she is even in full play mode.

Onyxs career is still quite fresh being only 9 months old, but he adores his friends from all walks of life, and the team at A1 Wheatbelt Dog Shelter keep him 100% safe when deciding what dogs are compatible for play time. It’s because of our combined group effort that these dogs are being able to trust the world again and are given a second chance.
