RCSA Latest Job Report

RCSA Latest Job Report
Mark Smith: We are now joined by Charles Cameron, the CEO of the rcsa in Australia and New Zealand. Just last week, the rcsa jobs report was released, providing interesting data about the Australian job market.

Charles Cameron: G'day Mark, thanks for having me.

Mark Smith: You don't seem to have too many bags under your eyes with all the sports excitement happening.

Charles Cameron: Well, I'm not coping well with the Ashes, and then we've got the Tour de France and the Matildas running—it's just too much.

Mark Smith: Indeed. But let's shift our focus to the jobs report. Where does the information for the rcsa jobs report come from?

Charles Cameron: We gather data from thousands of online job advertisement sites, including those run by recruitment firms, direct-to-market advertisers, and various businesses. The report pulls together information from six and a half thousand sites across Australia and New Zealand, using AI to code and avoid duplications.

Mark Smith: That's quite comprehensive. What are the key takeaways from the latest jobs report?

Charles Cameron: Interestingly, despite the challenges, the job market is showing resilience. We're 22% up on job ads compared to two years ago. One noteworthy aspect is the contrast between permanent and flexible job opportunities. In tough times, flexible opportunities typically increase, but in this market, they've decreased. It shows a maturity and awareness of the talent shortage.

Mark Smith: It seems people are keen to lock in good talent, anticipating future demand. How do you see the current job market situation?

Charles Cameron: It's a bit like the interest rates—it may feel impactful, but when you look back, it's not as extreme. The market is jumping around, but it's still buoyant. Even in the tech sector, where there's a slight drop, it's likely a result of talent hoarding, and overall, there's confidence and stability.

Mark Smith: That's an optimistic perspective. Any final thoughts on the job market?

Charles Cameron: One key observation is that there isn't an issue of too many flexible jobs. The majority of new jobs are permanent. It's important to focus on facts and cut through political rhetoric.

Mark Smith: Thanks for sharing these insights, Charles. For our viewers, you can find the detailed job report linked in the comments, and feel free to connect with Charles on LinkedIn and Twitter.

Charles Cameron: Always good to talk facts with you, mate. Thanks, Mark.

Mark Smith: Thank you, Charles.
